We will press for Louth to be designated a Heritage Town, in recognition of its remaining fine architecture, its unique parish church of St James, and its somewhat old-fashioned nature! |
Eco-Town Proposals Rejected
In the wake of East Lindsey councillors' recent decision not to proceed with the two eco-town bids for this region, The Louth Heritage Group supports calls for an enquiry into the whole debacle. How, we ask, was a situation allowed to develop where elected members of the District Council were kept in the dark while its executive prepared a bid for an eco- town at either Strubby, near Alford, or Manby, five miles from Louth? |
Trees are an underestimated amenity in Louth, and as recent events have shown, we are liable to lose mature trees at the drop of a hat. Our group continues to raise the alarm if we hear of trees being felled to make way for new buildings, or because they are regarded as unnecessary and unruly bits of nature that are better replaced with concrete. |
